God Instructs Jacob to go to Bethel
Genesis 35:1-3
Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.” 2So Jacob told his household and all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods that are among you. Purify yourselves and change your garments. 3Then let us arise and go to Bethel. I will build an altar there to God, who answered me in my day of distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone.”
Prayer for Courage and Discernment
Almighty God, You call us to follow You with trust and courage. We confess: we often cling to what is familiar, choosing comfort over calling, safety over surrender. Please gently remind us by Your Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, that You not only call, but also equip us to do Your will. Grant us the grace of discernment: to hear and recognize Your voice, and follow Your leading with joy and thanksgiving, even when it is uncomfortable. We pray in the mighty and holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
